access to primary teaching

Applicants who do not posses any formal qualifications may be considered for this course. Successful completion of the one-year programme guarantees a place on a relevant Higher Education Course at college or university. A place on a BEd Degree is not guaranteed.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate the academic ability to work at SCQF Level 6. Applicants who do not possess any qualifications will be considered on their work or voluntary experience, record of commitment and their life skills. Acceptance onto this programme will also be based on an interview to determine suitability.

Access to primary teaching
Formerly APE (Access to Primary Education programme), ACT has been re-developed to encourage your interest in and preparation for applying to any professional teaching degree here at Glasgow, UWS and Strathclyde. At Glasgow this comprises:

  • Education with Primary Teaching Qualification
  • Music Education
  • Religious & Philosophical Education
  • Technological Education

The APT Project is actively reaching out to students who are interested becoming secondary school teachers, and who are currently attending one of the following select QQI-FET Level 5/6 programmes at Moate Business College –a) 5M2009: Early Childhood Care & Education or b) 5M2181: Social Studies.
Up to a total of 10 places will be reserved in St. Angela’s ITE programmes for FE students from different institutions who are interested in participating in the APT Project. Courses available are:
